Its name, “Avantis Suites Hotel“, comes from the ancient name of the inhabitants of the island of Evia.
The Avantes were a prehistoric Greek tribe that came from the region of Thrace. With their king Avanda (from whom they took their name) they went down to Central Greece and at first they were dispersed in the Peloponnese.
Finally they moved to today’s Evia and mainly to the area of Eretria, where they settled permanently. From then on Evia was called “Avantia“, the tribe was “Avantis” and its inhabitants were Avantes.
The name Avantas, etymologically according to the ancient Greek language, means the unyielding, the courageous and generally the one who never retreats on the battlefield.
Much later, the island acquired the reputation of a region that well rears oxen (Eu & Vous in Ancient Greek) and was thus renamed Evia.
In our modern times, Mr. Kalfa’s family stubbornly fights year after year to make this place one of the best hotels in Evia and is unyielding in terms of the high quality of services provided to its customers.

The family as well as its current owner, Kalfas Georgios, noticed the uniqueness of the spot early on. The calmness, the peace and also the relaxation he caused in the world was incredible.
The Hotel was built and operated for the first time in 2004, while its extension was completed in 2009. In 2021, the reconstruction of the current outdoor restaurant and Beach Bar took place, while in 2022 the new beach with the two piers and the water games was also shaped, acquiring its final current form.
The complex is a 4-star hotel in central Evia.
